College Station Project, Texas | Fixed Aluminum Pergola & Guillotine Glass Enclosure
Details
A fixed aluminum pergola with solid aluminum roof panels and motorized guillotine glass walls has been installed over the existing patio at Casa Mangiare Cucina Italiana on University Drive East in College Station, Texas. The goal was to turn an open patio into a dining room the restaurant can use all year, protected from Texas sun, rain and wind, without losing the view.
The solid roof keeps the space shaded and dry. The guillotine glass panels fold down with a motor to open the room to fresh air, then rise again to close it in seconds. The glass walls were installed to meet the City's requirements, with sealed structural drawings and design accessories added to finish the space.

The Challenge
Enclosing an existing restaurant patio so it could be used in every season. The new structure had to meet the City's requirements for glass walls, be engineered for Texas wind and storms, and look like part of the restaurant rather than an add-on, while still letting the room open up on mild days.
The Result
A bright, enclosed dining room under a solid aluminum roof, finished with chandeliers and recessed lighting. The guillotine glass walls lower to bring in fresh air and close against heat, rain and wind, so the patio seats guests all year. The project also led to an offer for more commercial work with the client.
